houston diary 1

18 March 2013

Matt and I just got back this morning from Houston and I had the most amazing time. We had a blast and it was so nice to get away for a couple days. We took a lot of pictures, and we did several different things so I decided to cover my trip with a couple different blog posts.

First up would be our first day when we got there. Right after we landed my mom got me and Matt some Whataburger!! Oh how I have missed this so much! Then we ran some errands and then Matt and I were off to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! It was a really nice day out and it was the perfect day to be out. We got to the Rodeo and walked around the carnival a little and then we walked through the endless shops they have there. I was so close to buying a cowboy hat, but decided not to buy one...I'm still deciding if I made mistake or not haha. Before we headed inside for the actual rodeo and concert we got our dinner. We had several different options of fried food or food that is not good for you by any means. Matt ate the turkey leg and I had a sausage on a stick. These things were SO good!

We got to watch the majority of the rodeo, it was the semi-finals when we went. Rodeos are always fun to watch, and I love how excited everyone gets around us! Then we got to see Jake Owen perform. Let me tell you, Matt and I fell in love with this guy after this concert haha. Matt had a new man crush and I got a crush on the guy too! He was so fun to watch, so charming, and super funny. Throughout the concert he would run out to the crowd and take pictures with them and give them hugs, he was seriously such a great performer. Oh, I almost forgot they have fireworks inside!! It was so cool and I didn't know fireworks were allowed to be done inside like that. Jake Owen is great live, and I would definitely recommend listening to his album if you haven't.

After the concert, we headed back to the carnival, walked around some and then got ourselves some FRIED DESSERTS:)
There are so many different things to choose from, from this picture you can see some. Matt and I decided on the fried red velvet cake and fried cheesecake...BEST CHOICE! They were so good and I know they are really bad for you but I didn't care one bit because it was probably the most delicious thing I've ever had.

Then as we were leaving we eyed some gigantic block of curly fries topped with melted cheese and chili. At first we were like "we can't eat that!!" But then we decided when are we ever gonna be able to eat something like that haha!! So we got the block of curly fries and ate the whole thing!

The Rodeo was such a fun night, and I'm so glad Matt and I got to go and experience it! Here are two pictures from before we left, sorry the lighting was weird and we have shadows all over us ha.
